Our traditional carrot growing area is on the South East coast of South Australia. Carrots were first grown in this area 25 years ago and the production has been growing steadily ever since.
This area has a reputation for producing high quality, disease-free and weed-free carrot seed. The seed to seed method is mostly used, however the root to seed method is used where stock seed is limited or root selection is preferred.
In addition to carrot production, this area is ideally suited for the production of celery, parsley and parsnip, which are done by the transplanting method.
Mount Gambier is the centre of this region where we have extensive warehouse and cleaning facilities in which the carrot seed is milled and packed for export. While the winters are cold our sites do not freeze, therefore avoiding the winter kill experienced in other parts of the world.
